Tonight, while watching WWE Raw on the USA Network, I saw one of the funniest advertisements I’ve ever seen. It had me laughing my ass off!
I don’t know why exactly, but I think it has something to do with being a guy!
The commercial starts out with “Triple H” lying by a swimming pool, snoring and catching some sun. Johnny Smith, from the show “The Dead Zone,” is walking by with a bottle of sunscreen in his left hand. He stops and picks up “Triple H’s” sunglasses from the ground and sees the future through “Triple H’s” eyes.
John sees “Triple H” standing on the apron of the wrestling ring, getting ready to spit a mouthful of water into the air like he always does on his ring entrance. John Cena, already in the ring, seeing that “Triple H” is sunburned, walks up behind him and slaps him on the shoulder, leaving a handprint. “Triple H” grimaces in pain and John Cena is laughing at him.
Then it cuts back to John Smith waking up “Triple H” and saying, “Hey, big man.”
Handing “Triple H” the bottle of sunscreen, John Smith says, “Trust me.”
As John Smith is walking off with his sunglasses, “Triple H” asks, “Dude, can you get my back?”
That was fucking hilarious!!
I guess it’s because I really like the show, “The Dead Zone,” and because in the last couple years I have come to like WWE. I was a WCW fan. I miss that show and the Nitro Girls! Chae was so freakin' hot!
If you never watched WCW wrestling, then watch the movie "Ready to Rumble." It's hilarious, has most of the big WCW wrestlers, and best of all ... it has the Nitro Girls!!
I know the movie didn't do so great when it first came out and no one I know seems to like it, but it's worth watching when all you want to do is laugh.
Seriously, if you can watch the movie and not laugh at the scene where David Arquette (Gordie) tries to get a free Slurpee refill from Ahmet Zappa (the cashier) ... you're not human! Actually, it probably just means you're not an immature guy that finds potty humor funny.
Anyway, back to the commercial.
As a guy, not only do I find the horseplay hilarious because we all do that shit, but I also like the notion that the world is one big apartment complex and we’re all goofy, quirky roommates.
It’s like another advertisement I saw on USA that has John Smith and Shawn Spencer, from the show “psych,” eating together in a diner with Adrian Monk, from “Monk,” in the next booth. It was hilarious! I hope USA puts it up on their “Character Clique” video player (launch it from the top right corner of their web page).
I’ve included links to the commercials I’ve mentioned from YouTube, but you can also view them from the USA Network website. Just launch the “Character Clique” video player (top right corner).
Click on “Series.” Then click on “psych.” Then click on “Previews.” I really like: - “Shawn Meets Monk” – An obsessive/compulsive's worst nightmare … cheesy fingers! - “Brain Freeze” – Always funny, but even more so when mistaken for a psychic vision. - “9 vs. 10” – I prefer 9 myself, considering it’s my numerology number. Plus, I think it’s the only number that when added to itself, the sum of its product produces the same number. (9 + 9 = 18 : 1 + 8 = 9).
Click on “The Dead Zone.” Then click on “Character Clips.” They’re all funny! - “SPF: HHH” – Come on, you know you’ve slapped someone with a sunburn before and thought it was funny. Does it make you a bad person? Sure, but it also makes you a funny person! - “The Ends” – Why psychics can’t have cats. - “Elevator” – What else are brothers for? - “Weirdo” – How to have fun with your psychic ability.
Click on “Characters." Then click on “USA Characters.” My favorites are: - “Groceries” – What an obsessive/compulsive does for fun. - “WWE” – Not too far from the truth. They’re probably the only characters that are really being their selves. Plus, they’re on the road so much together, they probably feel like they all live together.
